This Laurel Canyon back yard had been treated as a nearly non-existent shaded slope for decades until a divorce and a search for a new lease on life prompted the way to discovering the joy and restorative aspects of nature right outside our doorstep.
We cut into the slope to gain more garden floor, caught the water causing a moist basement in a dry stream, and created step deck platforms up to a spa and down into a gravel filled fire pit area backed with a meditation hut.
